Mayor Bob Moffatt was first elected Commissioner in May 2012. He has served as the Borough’s Mayor since 2015. Bob is the Borough Commissioner chosen to oversee Public Safety and Public Affairs. In his capacity, the Mayor’s efforts are focused on ensuring the Borough is effectively meeting its responsibilities in protecting the public health and safety of the community. The Mayor is the lead interface with the public and the City of Cape May in making sure the Borough is receiving appropriate presence and prompt emergency response from the city’s Police Department. Similarly, he monitors the activities of the county health department as it relates to any potential public health risk or concern to the Borough. The Mayor works directly with the Directors of the Beach Patrol and Beach Tag Inspectors providing them with the attention and resources they need to keep our beaches safe and attractive. The other services the Mayor oversees include Code Enforcement and Rental Inspection, Animal Control, and the Municipal Prosecutor and Public Defender offices. The Mayor is also the liaison to the Borough of Cape May Point’s Volunteer Fire Department.
